The Angell Family Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors that attended Linton-Stockton, White River Valley, Dugger Union, or Sullivan High School. This scholarship is intended for students pursuing a one- or two-year vocational or occupational degree at Vincennes University or Ivy Tech which will lead directly to employment once completed. (Students seeking four-year degree paths should view other scholarship options offered by the Foundation.)
The Angell Family Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors that reside in the Angell family (former) business marketing area in Greene and Sullivan counties.
The Dale and Tillie Jessup Scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors who have attended a Greene County high school for all four years and have been a resident of Greene County or Clay County for those four years. Applicant must be planning to major, on a full-time basis, in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.
Dale and Tillie Jessup established a unique scholarship fund for Greene County high school graduating seniors. The Jessup’s donated 100 acres of farm land to the Foundation. The land is leased for farming and the proceeds are used to provide scholarships to students in financial need.
Students awarded the Jessup scholarship as a graduating high school senior may re-apply in subsequent years for additional awards.
The Faith Christian Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who attended any Greene County high school at the time of graduation; it is also open to home-schooled students who are graduating. Applicants must be planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited post-secondary institution in Indiana.
The Faith Christian Scholarship is a donor-advised scholarship established by the deacons of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield as a result of a bequeath by Francis Gainey. Ms. Gainey understood the importance of education and wanted to help students attend college, who might not otherwise have the family support or means to attend. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years, based on academic performance. Students will need to show proof of their academic progress each spring semester to be considered for scholarship renewal; a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will be considered adequate.
The Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors from any Greene County high school who intend to enroll in a nursing program at Vincennes University, Ivy Tech, Indiana State University, or Lincoln Trail College. Greene County residents out of high school are also eligible, with preference given to single, working mothers.
The scholarship is renewable for a second year if the student presents written documentation of acceptance into a nursing program and has maintained a “C” average. 50% of the annual scholarship award amount will be awarded the first year of the scholarship; 150% of the amount will be awarded the second year upon the recipient’s acceptance into a qualifying nursing program.
Hollee Lee Lent was a registered nurse at Bloomington Hospital when she passed away on August 19, 2005, at the age of 30. The Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship was established by members of her family who wished to remember her and her caring spirit.

The JoEtta Turpin Scholarship is intended for a graduating senior at Linton-Stockton or Shakamak High School. Applicants must be planning to enroll in an accredited college/university as a full-time student in the fall.
JoEtta Turpin was a well-known Linton businesswoman who owned JoEtta’s Pizza Villa. She lived in Linton her entire life. During her life, she was unfailingly generous to the families and children of her community. Over the years, JoEtta bought school boxes and coats for the children at Linton’s Head Start program. She was also very good with teenagers and employed many of them at the Pizza Villa. These scholarships honoring her memory were established by her son, Rob Turpin, in 2001. Additional donations to the fund are accepted.

The Jaden Lauderdale Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 by Doug and Jessica Lauderdale in memory of their daughter. Jaden was a 14 year old with a huge heart and always thought of others. She was waiting for a heart transplant at Riley. Her family wanted to continue Jaden's giving attitude by presenting an annual scholarship to one Greene County senior seeking a 2 or 4-year degree in the medical field.
The Mayor Robert and Marjorie Walters Memorial Scholarship is intended for a graduating senior from Linton-Stockton High School who studied music in high school.
Carolea Walters of Indianapolis and Kathy Walters of Franklin established the Mayor Robert and Marjorie Walters Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2005 in memory of their parents.
The Merrill Gene Petry Scholarship Fund is intended for a graduating high school senior from Linton-Stockton High School. Applicants must be pursuing one of the following careers: education, electrical science, or music.
The Mirisa Jones Memorial Scholarship is intended for a graduating high school senior from Linton-Stockton High School. Applicant must be pursuing a two- or four-year degree in the healthcare field. A preference will be given to single parents.
Mirisa LeAnn Jones was a 26-year-old single mother who passed away on August 31, 2011. She was a LHS graduate in 2004 and graduated from Ivy Tech Community College in 2006 with an LPN degree. Mirisa also held a license and worked as both a CNA and an EMT while obtaining her college degree. Mirisa worked in area nursing homes as a CNA and LPN. She was caring and compassionate to all of her patients, but her heart was always in geriatric care.
Mirisa had a contagious smile and was always a very giving person. She had an outgoing personality and was passionate about all she had accomplished. Mirisa’s family desires the scholarship to be awarded to someone whose enthusiasm for obtaining a degree in the medical field is as great as Mirisa’s was.
The Northwest Bank/Ivy Tech Scholarship is intended to honor a graduating senior from Greene County who will be attending Ivy Tech Community College. Awarded to individuals who exhibit achievement through the exercise of good character, perseverance, and determination.
Stanley Barkley of Bloomfield established the Northwest Bank/Ivy Tech Scholarship Fund in 2005.
The Phil Harris Scholarship was established with the Greene County Foundation in 1998. Phil Harris was a native of Linton and is best known for his voice as Baloo, the Bear in the Walt Disney movie the Jungle Book. Don Steward and others wanted to celebrate Phil’s success and started the Phil Harris Festival. In its heyday, the festival was a three-day event with Phil and his friends returning to the area. In later years, country music star Roy Clark became a frequent visitor with a musical show that highlighted the event. It is awarded to graduating seniors at Linton-Stockton High School.
These scholarships are intended for graduating seniors from each Greene County high school who intend to enroll as full-time students at an accredited college or university.
The Special Achievement Scholarships were established by the Greene County Foundation Board of Directors to honor the special achievements of graduating high school seniors. One award shall be given for each Greene County high school.
The Tonda Lawrence scholarship was established by Tonda’s parents Levon and Marjorie Jeffers. Tonda was a popular teacher in the Linton-Stockton Schools with a love of travel. Tonda believed to teach was to touch a child’s life forever. Her valiant battle with cancer ended her life too soon, but the scholarship carries her passion forward.
The fund provides scholarships to graduates of Linton-Stockton High School who will be attending Indiana University or enrolling in a pharmacy program at any Indiana college or university.
