Greene County Foundation to award over $25,000 in scholarships

According to a press release issued by the Greene County Foundation in early April, staff at the Greene County Foundation are hard at work (at home), doing what they can to support the community. They are currently evaluating general scholarships for graduating high school students and will announce the winners next month.

At many institutions, college students are completing coursework online through the summer, and financial assistance is more important than ever.

Another scholarship opportunity is open now for current college students. There are currently three separate scholarships available for Greene County students who have completed at least one full year of college and are continuing to finish their degrees. The Helen Hunter Scholarships, Kenny and Ruth Richardson Scholarship and Linton Tri-Kappa Scholarship are currently open to applicants.

Visit the Foundation website at www.greenecountyfoundation.org to learn more about each of these scholarships and their requirements. The online application portal can be found at greenecountyfoundation.communityforce.com.

The deadline for completed applications for the 2020-2021 school year is Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11:59pm.

The Helen Hunter Scholarships are awarded to up to three students who are Greene County high school graduates or current residents and are attending an Indiana two- or four-year college or university in the fall. Applicants must be enrolled in college as a junior or senior in the upcoming fall semester, be enrolled as a graduate student in the upcoming fall semester or be a returning or non-traditional student who has attended college but did not complete or who graduated high school but did not immediately enroll in college, and who’s enrolled in college in the upcoming fall semester.

There are three separate application forms for this scholarship, depending on which of the above criteria the applicant meets.

The Kenny and Ruth Richardson Scholarship was established in 2013 and is intended for graduates of Bloomfield High School who are enrolled at an Indiana two- or four-year college or university.

Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year of college in the upcoming fall semester.

The Linton Tri-Kappa Scholarship is intended for graduates of Linton-Stockton High School who are enrolled at an Indiana two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must have completed at least two full-time semesters, or 25 credit hours, at an accredited institution and must be enrolled in good academic standing or accepted to an accredited institution of their choice. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate strong participation and/or leadership in a philanthropic organization(s).
