Unique Gift Will Help Agriculture Students

Dale and Tillie Jessup have farming in their blood. They grew up on family farms and in spite of successful business ventures in trucking and development; they have maintained their love of the land. They and their children currently farm 3500 acres in Greene County, Indiana.

One hundred of those acres have been deeded to the Greene County Foundation as a unique gift. The Jessups worked with the Foundation to make certain that the land will continue to be farmed and the proceeds used to provide scholarships for Greene County High School graduates who are interested in becoming farmers.

The Jessups had two goals for their gift. They wanted to make certain that the prime farm land located almost directly in the center of the county on Highway 57 will remain as a working farm - forever. They also wanted to provide a way for future farmers to get the best possible education in modern farming techniques.

The Dale and Tillie Jessup Memorial scholarships will be based on financial need and academic performance. Students will be able to reapply for the scholarship each year while undergraduates.
