Linton Heritage Fund Receives Generous Donation
The Linton Heritage Fund, recently established at the Greene County Foundation (GCF), has received a generous donation from Barbara J. Briggs, formerly of Linton. Briggs gave the donation in honor of the memory of her grandparents, William J. and Emma H. Hamilton, her parents, Mildred H. and J. Victor Briggs, and her aunt and uncle, Nell B. and Wayne Hamilton.
Ms. Briggs, who currently resides in Indianapolis, read the article in the Daily World about the "You'll Like Linton" program at the First Methodist Church on August 20th. She was pleased to read that Linton's heritage is being preserved for future generations. Her donation will help support Linton community efforts and programs that preserve and present the history of its earliest families.
The Linton Heritage Fund was started with a donation in honor of Pollyanna Miller, in celebration of the life of her husband, Frank. This donation was in recognition of the contribution that her family has made to the Linton community for so many years and in anticipation of their future contribution. Polly Miller is an emeritus board member of the GCF and served as its first executive director and scholarship committee chair.
The GCF is a community foundation created in 1998 for the promotion of philanthropy in Greene County. GCF is the primary source for charitable funding and philanthropic donor services in the Greene County community. Local charities and scholars have benefited from over $9 million in grants as well as enhancing the community through various community projects. GCF core values include: stewardship, accountability, leadership, credibility, community and philanthropy.
